Remembrance Day Parade

to

Event Location
King Street East between Brock and Stone, Municipal Cenotaph

Event Description
The annual Remembrance Day Parade will be held this year as always at the Gananoque Cenotaph in front of Town Hall. Participation this year will include the Veterans and members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92, LCol Russell Britton, Gananoque as well as a marching contingent of Canadian Forces personnel, CFB Kingston, from 212 EW Sqn/21 EW Reg't and the Queens Bands.
We request closure of one block of King Street East from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm between the intersections with Stone Street and Brock Street. This is in order to accommodate a short parade route to the Gananoque Cenotaph and to allow the marching contingent from CFB Kingston to remain in formation facing the front of the Cenotaph during the Ceremony as protocol requires. It will also permit spectators to cross the street safely on foot if they choose to do so. The 1:00pm timing is a flex timing based on the end of the Ceremony and when we are able to dismiss the parade and the Canadian Forces personnel are dismissed and leave the street. It is very likely that, as was the case last year, following the conclusion of the Ceremony that King Street will be cleared before 1:00pm allowing for an earlier re-opening.
We also request to rent approximately 30 plastic chairs from the Town which will be placed along the east side of the Cenotaph to accommodate the needs of our older Veterans or members of the public who require them.
Following the end of the Ceremony, there will be a reception at the Legion to which all members of the public are welcome.
