A tax certificate is a statement of property taxes levied and outstanding, which is usually requested by a lawyer in relation to the closing of a real estate transaction. However, the Municipal Act provides that anyone may request a tax certificate if the request is submitted in writing and the appropriate fee is paid.
The Town of Gananoque's Fees and Charges By-Law provides for a fee for the provision of a tax certificate and the fee may change from year to year. The current fee for a tax certificate is $50.00 and cheques should be made payable to the Town of Gananoque.
Requests must be submitted in writing and delivered to the Tax Department at the Town of Gananoque. Please allow 7-10 days for processing. Requests may be submitted by:
