The purpose of Development Charges (D.C.) is to recover the capital costs associated with residential and non‐residential growth within the Town of Gananoque. Municipalities are empowered to impose these charges via the Development Charges Act (D.C.A.) The Council of the Town of Gananoque passed a municipal‐wide Development Charges By‐law No.2021‐070 on the 1ST DAY of JUNE, 2021 under section 2 (1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.O. 1997 c.27 as amended.
The Development Charges By‐law was effective July 12, 2021 and will remain in effect for a period of five (5) years.
Development Charges have been imposed for the following categories of the Town services in order to pay for the increased capital costs required as a result of the increased needs for services arising from development:
• Roads and Related Services
• Parks and Recreation Services
• Wastewater Services
• Growth Related Studies
