The Public Works Department is responsible for the general maintenance of the Town’s infrastructure, which is comprised of roads and the Stormwater Management System.
The Town of Gananoque’s Stormwater Management System is owned and operated by the Town of Gananoque in accordance with the Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approval (CLI-ECA) 1 – 156-S701
The Stormwater Management System consists of:
- Storm sewers
- Ditches
- Swales
- Catch basins
- 2 Stormwater Management Ponds – Wet
- 2 oil/grit separators
Pursuant to the Environmental Protection Act, R.S.O 1990, c. E. 19 (EPA),
The Town continually monitors stormwater infrastructure, records, data collection and reporting. The Public Works Department cleans and inspects all catch basins and oil and grit separators twice per calendar year. The performance of the Stormwater Management Ponds is provided through annual inspections to visually identify required maintenance or functional issues.
Under Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks requirements, an annual report shall be completed and submitted in order to maintain compliance.
The Town of Gananoque is presently developing a Stormwater Management Plan and Operations and Maintenance Manual. These documents will be posted upon completion.
