Council Meeting Highlights – June 18, 2024

  • Council approved to purchase a Commemorative Bench, to be located outside the TD Bank (100 King Street East) to Commemorate Mr. Charlie Donevan and that Wednesday, July 31st shall be recognized as “Mr. Charles “Charlie” F. Donevan Day” in the Town of Gananoque for what would have been his 100th Birthday.
     
  • Kim Marshall, Public Nurse, Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit (LGLDHU) and Scott Gee, Police Chief, Gananoque Police Service, presented a PowerPoint which provided an overview and update on the Municipal Drug Strategy.
     
  • Alison Tutak, Director of Community and Social Services, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG), appeared as a Delegation before Council to present a PowerPoint Presentation entitled, Flourish/Indewell Report, a concept plan for a Supportive Living Facility in Leeds Grenville.
     
  • Council authorized the Rotary Club of Gananoque to proceed with the Rotary Beach Revitalization Project as presented on May 21st 2024, and directed Staff to work with the Rotary Club until the project is completed (May 21, 2025).
     
  • Mayor Beddows declared the week of June 17 to 23, 2024, as “Refugee Week” in the Town of Gananoque.
     
  • A By-law was passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Lasalle Electrical Contracting Inc., to complete the replacement of the Fire Panel and Life Safety Upgrades at the Lou Jeffries Arena.
     
  • The 2024 Community Grants First (1st) Quarter Report was received for information.
     
  • Council Received the 2023 Year-End unaudited financial results for information.
     
  • The 2024 Reserve Schedule was received for information.
     
  • Council passed a motion to amend the 2024 Council Schedule to moved the August 6, 2024 meeting date to August 13, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
