Town News
  • Council approved a Community Grant in the amount of $8,765.50 to the Gananoque Royal Canadian Legion to renovate the Town War Memorial Monument.
  • Council passed a Motion to amend the Procedural By-law to change the Council Meeting start time from 6:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Final consideration of the amendment will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
  • Bell and Associates has been awarded the contract for the procurement of services to complete the detailed architectural design and provide consulting services for 400 Stone Street North Unit 2, to facilitate a licenced daycare at a net cost of $91,572.43.
  • Council approved Town Staff to engage a Consulting Engineer to complete the design work for the repairs to the retaining walls on the east approach of the roadway of the Water Street swing bridge. The estimated costs for construction will be considered during the 2025 Budget Deliberations. Staff were directed to explore short-term access options, as well as, a permanent fix to the infrastructure.
  • Council approved a Backflow Prevention Device Installation Interest Free Loan Program encouraging ICI (Industrial/Commercial/Institutional) property owners to install an approved device to ensure compliance with Provincial requirements. The program will be funded through Water Reserves and repayment of the loan will be made through taxes as set out in the agreement signed by the owner(s).
  • A budget deviation of up to an upset limit of $20,000 to be drawn from the Water reserves budget in 2024 was approved by Council to hire a building inspector to assist with the inspection and permitting process for the installation of Backflow Prevention devices.
  • John Brooks Company Limited has been awarded the contract to undertake the refurbishment of Low Lift Pump and Motor 1 and High Lift Pump and Motor #3 at the Town’s Water Treatment Plant at a cost of $61,270.71 (including the Town’s portion of HST)
