- Municipal Drug Strategy, Gananoque Intermediate Secondary School (GISS) Representative Eli appeared before Council and requested that Council consider supporting the Gananoque Public Library as a meeting facility for a Youth Hub Program. Following the Delegation, Council passed a motion of support to provide a Youth Hub at the Library and referred the motion to the Gananoque Public Library Board for consideration.
- Tom Zsolnay, President and CEO and Abigail McIlquham, Associate Director, Healthcare Advancement – University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) made a Delegation to Council regarding Partnering for Exceptional Health Care in Our Region. Following the Delegation, Council passed a motion to refer the UHKF request to invest $75,000 per year in each of the next five (5) years (2024 to 2029) for a total commitment of $375,000 to the 2025 Budget Deliberations.
- Alan Smith, Member of the Trees and Trails Advisory Panel, presented a PowerPoint presentation entitled “Management of Invasive Trees and Plants in Gananoque”.
- Council received the Engineering Report for 10 King Street East for information.
- Council received the CAO’s report titled Public Meeting – Municipal Health Care Initiatives which provided an overview of the Public Session held
- on October 29, 2024 regarding Physician Recruitment at the Lou Jeffries Arena. The report was received for information.
- Council approved the issuance of a two (2) year extension regarding the draft Plan Approval for SD2021-01 (Rocky Acres IV).
- An amendment to the Human Resources Policy By-law No. 2014-110, was passed to amend Section 400-04, reflecting the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) prescribed corporate mileage rate.
- Council directed the Clerk to determine a date in January 2025 for Council’s consideration regarding the adoption of a 10-Year Capital Plan and Budget Deliberation for the Water and Wastewater Operating and Capital Budgets.
- The 2025 Council Schedule was approved as presented by the Clerk.
- In light of new information, Council postponed consideration of the Gananoque Public Library Quarterly Report.
- Mayor Beddows proposed a recommendation to forward a letter to Steve Clark, MPP regarding Health Care in Gananoque and Throughout the Province. Council generally agreed to postpone this matter to Tuesday, November 19th, 2024.
- Council passed a motion directing Staff to bring back a report regarding the Birch Street Retirement Living Development Inc., request for Development Charges Relief.
- Council passed a motion of support for the submission of a Grant Application to the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) for the replacement of the elevator lift at the Lou Jeffries Arena, and 30% of the Town share of $94,040, be drawn from the Arena Reserve.
